To our long-suffering and super-patient Fantasy Backers!
over 1 year ago – Wed, Aug 03, 2022 at 05:10:14 AM

The games mechanisms have been hammered down into a finely sharpened alloy of cardboard and iron! (Rules are done!). We're going into rounds of proofing with both internal and external proofreaders and testers. I don't have a date locked down for this yet, but it's definitely so much closer than it is farther.

Thank you for your continued patience!

Meanwhile, here's a small sampling of cards from the core set to whet your appetite! (These cards are still being proofed and could change before the final printing.)

Arrin the Cleric's 1st Level card
One of the baddies!
Cleric's going to need more of this to get out of hanging out with Molluk alive.
Doors, doorways, and pits. Prime ingredients for a nice adventure!
What's that, Admiral Ackbar? ( I dare you not to hear his response in your head!)

Merrick Expansion
almost 2 years ago – Fri, May 20, 2022 at 12:49:34 AM

One of the expansions features Merrick the Dwarven Fighter.

Here are his 6 cards that show his progression from 1st level up through 6th level.

Also shown here are 3 cards for Harold the "Follower".

Each of the Hero expansions also includes a "Follower" squad hero. These heroes are stand-alone heroes and work just like normal Heroes, but they also have a unique skill and the Follower keyword. When you have a Follower Hero, you select a Player Hero of the same class, to be their "Liege", in this case a Fighter.

Harold for example has the "Aid" skill. This skill allows him to aid his Liege in some way, such as giving the Liege Toughness, XP, etc. Each class of Follower has their own  skill to help their Liege as appropriate to their class. For example, a Wizard's Follower is able to give the Wizard extra Focus to cast spells.

The Merrick expansion includes several Weapons that gain a bonus when Equipped by a Dwarven Hero.

The expansion also includes several skills only available to Dwarves. Being a Fighter, Merrick is able to use all the standard Skill cards from the core game.

The expansion also includes several new Items that you can add to your Item deck when drawing Treasures, as well as a couple new Action cards to add to your Action card deck.

Paladin
about 2 years ago – Sat, Apr 23, 2022 at 12:20:33 AM

We are moving forward on the expansions!

Here is Joanna the Paladin.

In fantasy, Paladins are usually described as a rare or elite class of hero. I always liked that idea. I liked that they were special. But, in most game systems, creating a Paladin is the same as any other hero, so from a rules point of view, they were the same as any other hero.

Not so in Warfighter!

Paladins are more capable than standard heroes. A Paladin has all the fighting skills of a fighter, and some of the divinity skills of a cleric. The trade-off is, they are also most costly. Most heroes have a 1st level cost of 10 to 12. Joanna at 1st level costs 16. At 6th level, most heroes cost around 50. Joanna costs around 80.

She basically takes up the points of 2 of the 4 standard heroes in a party.

One especially cool thing about her is her gear limitations. She starts off a humble person, only able to equip "Old" ie inferior weapons, armor, and shields. As she gains levels, she loses that disadvantage, and is able to equip standard gear. In later levels, she is no longer permitted to equip Old gear. And at her highest levels, she can only equip "Fine" ie well-crafted or magical gear.
